Packing Tips

Packing Tips

Use Packing accessories such as cartons, wrapping paper, bubble wrap and plastic dust covers to help maintain and protect your goods whilst in storage.

Fill cartons to capacity; partially full or bulging cartons may tip or collapse. Heavy items like books or tools should be packed in small cartons so they are easy to handle. Books should be packed flat, not on their spines.

Label all cartons room by room this aids in quick identification and makes the job of unpacking much easier.

Planning Your Storage Space

Planning Your Storage Space

Planning Your Space

As a general rule of thumb, place large and/or heavy items at the rear of the unit. Then work forwards and upwards with lighter, fragile items.

Place the items that you may need to access often in the front of the unit. Depending on the goods you have stored, you may need to allow for walkways, so please consider this when packing your unit.

Packing in professional storage cartons will make the stowing and unpacking easier and safer, saving you time. Professional packing and storage accessories will provide your goods with the preparation they need for storage and maintain their condition for the term of storage.

What Not to Store

Any goods that are illegal, stolen, inflammable, explosive, environmentally harmful, hazardous, perishable or that are a risk to the property of any person. e.g. Chlorine, acid, paint and petrol.

We make every effort to treat for vermin and insects on a regular basis but they can still make their way into the units.  For bedding and other delicate items cover securerly with plastic or store in sealed plastic containers where possible and it is also recommended to put bait stations at the rear of the unit before filling and also either side of the front door to catch anything that may enter the unit.

Also, make sure no food of any type is stored in the unit.  The smell alone can attract vermin.  Please ensure all items are clean before storage for the security of your items and other clients in the buildings.
